50th Birthday Presents Ideas

Depending on whether the person turning 50 works, and based on whether they work in an office environment that is fairly open to accepting some fun, you could plan to send the person 50 balloons. But, the novel part of this idea is that you would need to start 50 days before their actual birthday and send 50 balloons on the 50th day before their birthday and count down the days with the corresponding number of balloons.

You could also send to their home 50 of almost anything. To make this a bit odd or unusual, try and relate the 50 items to some aspect of becoming fifty, and it is even more fun to make this connection humorous. For example, you could send them:
- fifty pennies so they can build up their retirement income
- fifty post it notes so they don't forget things now that they are getting older
-fifty candles so they don't forget how old they are; and so on.

Although this idea isn't original, you can get that special woman a gift certificate for a day spa;
or, a gift certificate for an higher end or elegant restaurant that they normally wouldn't go to.

There are also some specially made presents that you may wish to consider like:
- a mug with their name, birthdate, and the words '50th' made by a local potter, or
- an etched glass wall hanging in a wood frame that records the big day, or
- go to a local flag makerand ask them to design a special day flag.

If you are thinking of getting them a cake, don't just go for the old standard with writing, instead, go to your local baker and have them make fifty cup cakes that are decorated especially for them with, for example, their initials on every cake, or a stack of fifty rosebuds on each, or whatever you can think of that will fit with the person's character or special qualities. If this person is a dog lover, for example, you may be able to find a little doggie motif to fit on each cup cake.
